I've read the thing that if you eat too few calories daily (such as, um, oh, I don't know...1100?!), your body decides that you're starving to death and stores MORE fat to save your sorry ass. Not the desired effect; BLAH. So I agree that we have to keep the metabolism hopping somehow, but I'm having trouble figuring out exactly how to do it personally. I'm trying to keep eating as much protein and fiber & veggies as I can; I'm chowing beef jerky and little flavored cans of tuna that I never did before...

The free day concept is also in the front of my brain most days, because I don't know how it would be possible to exist eating 1100 calories every single day for weeks and months without ever going over. I am guilty of TOO many cheats right now. I keep thinking I should allow myself the one free day a week also, but maybe I'd be satisfied with two "free meals" per week instead, such as one on Wednesday and one on Saturday...? A meal where anything goes, but must be completed within an hour or so, kind of like the Carb Addict's Diet "Reward Meal" concept...? (With that, you eat protein/fiber/veggies/& fat-free dairy all day, and then anything you want for dinner, for just one hour. So you get an hour of whatever you want EVERY day...)

I'm torn. Right now, when I have a whole "Free Day," I GAIN THREE or more POUNDS every time! This makes me really, really depressed, and then I have ANOTHER bad day the day after. So I end up with 4 or 5 great days each week, and 2 or 3 so-so (or ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE) days!

I have to improve this average somehow...Kristin Grossnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4178230693870750162.post-79672271802267545912011-03-21T08:21:42.542-07:002011-03-21T08:21:42.542-07:00Thanks! The theory behind that is that I don't want my bod to adjust to the 1100 cals a day and think I'm starving so I have to shake things up to keep my metabolism up. That makes sense, right? And then I feel so gross and bloated and fat at the end of the free day that dieting for six more days is easy.Sarah https://www.blogger.com/profile/14091395645226862871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4178230693870750162.post-4019566085374328992011-03-20T20:09:25.534-07:002011-03-20T20:09:25.534-07:00WELL DONE, YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
T...WELL DONE, YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ten pounds and 40 sticks of butter lost is AMAZING. I think that first ten pounds has got to be the HARDEST ten to lose. Right? RIGHT??????? Please tell me this is correct.......

Sounds like you're doing fabulously. KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK!!!

Just remember to save at least 2000 calories for April 22nd, because a few "Water for Elephants"viewings / RPatz slobber-fests need to somehow fit into our diets. I'm just sayin'.Kristin Grossnoreply@blogger.com
